While at least five states are preparing to vote on the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes, British medical journal Lancet Psychiatry recently released findings that about 10 million more Americans smoke marijuana than 12 years ago. Surveying adults over a 12-year span, the study indicated an increase in overall use, an increase in daily use and a decrease in the perception of marijuana being a “risky” drug. Other aspects of the study included first-time use and abusive use.
