A $716,400 class action settlement was reached with the owners of Van Heusen, Izod, G.H. Bass and Calvin Klein to resolve allegations that the company violated the rights of individuals applying for jobs at their retailers or warehouses by obtaining background checks without complying with federal law. Plaintiff Luis A. Rodriguez alleged that PVH and Calvin Klein denied him employment as a manager at a Calvin Klein store based on an incorrect background check obtained about him by HireRight Solutions, Inc. When Calvin Klein obtained the information it used in its decision not to hire Rodriguez, the information was not disclosed to Rodriguez before he was denied the position.PVH Corp. does not admit to any wrongdoing, but it agreed to this class action settlement to avoid the cost and risk of going to trial.
