According to a national survey conducted on behalf of CareerBuilder by Harris Poll has revealed that 57 percent of employees are less likely to interview a candidate they can’t find online, while 54 percent have decided not to hire a candidate based on their social media profiles. Applicants should consider these statistics when posting pictures of late-night revelries or complaints about their job, as more and more employers are using social media to screen potential employees. Human Resource departments are first looking for information that supports an applicant’s qualifications for the job and second, whether the candidate has a professional online persona. But, the study revealed that 39 percent of them didn’t hire based on inappropriate content and 38 percent said it was due to posted information about alcohol or drug use.
