U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has issued the revised Employment Verification form (Form I-9). All employers must complete a new Form I-9 for each new hire within three business days of hire. The new form must be exclusively used by Jan. 22, 2017. Employers may use the current version of the form, dated 03/08/2013, or begin using the new form, dated 11/14/2016. Updates will be made to the M-274, Employer Handbook in the upcoming year. Significant changes to the Form I-9 include a new Preparer and/or Translator Certification box, as well as an “additional information” box.
