A new Mississippi study shows employers are becoming more willing to hire people with criminal records as businesses struggle with workforce shortages. The “Fair Chance Hiring Study,” conducted by the Mississippi Business Alliance Foundation and MAGCOR Industries, found that many employers believe individuals deserve a second chance, and nearly 90% of businesses that hired formerly incarcerated workers reported positive outcomes. The report highlights growing support for fair-chance hiring as a way to strengthen Mississippi’s labor force and improve reentry opportunities.
