Former South Florida nursing school operator Carleen Noreus pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and
conspiracy to commit money laundering for 2,956 fraudulent nursing diplomas issued between 2018 and 2025 through
two now-shuttered schools. Prosecutors for the first time alleged that a fraudulently credentialed nurse contributed to a
patient’s death. Noreus was sentenced to 87 months in federal prison plus 2 years of supervised release.
