ATA Leads Coalition to Address Marijuana Rescheduling Safety Concerns

The American Trucking Associations (ATA) is leading a coalition of 19 transportation and safety organizations urging federal agencies to preserve Department of Transportation marijuana testing requirements for safety-sensitive workers if marijuana is reclassified from Schedule I to Schedule III. The coalition warns that rescheduling could create legal uncertainty and disrupt federally required drug-testing programs. It is asking regulators to maintain laboratory certification standards, affirm employers’ authority to test, and coordinate a long-term strategy to protect highway and transportation safety.
