Connecticut has expanded its Data Privacy Act through new legislation that broadens the law’s scope, strengthens
consumer rights, and increases obligations for businesses. The amendments cover more organizations by lowering
applicability thresholds, expanding the definition of sensitive data, and limiting exemptions. Consumers gain additional
rights over profiling, inferences, and third-party data sharing. The law also prohibits the sale of precise geolocation
data, creates a data broker registration program, and introduces new rules for genetic testing companies and
surveillance pricing practices.
