Florida employers, particularly those in safety-sensitive industries, are increasingly encouraged to use comprehensive multi-panel drug testing rather than traditional 5-panel screens because today’s substance-use landscape includes fentanyl, synthetic opioids, and other drugs not detected by older tests. Florida’s Drug-Free Workplace Program requires proper documentation, confirmatory laboratory testing for positive results, and
compliance with state procedures. Expanded 12- to 16-panel tests can improve workplace safety while helping employers qualify for workers’ compensation premium discounts.
