New Tennessee Immigration Enforcement Law: Key Measures and Implications

Tennessee’s new immigration enforcement law mandates that employers verify the legal status of their workers through the E-Verify system, effective January 1, 2025. Companies with more than 6 employees must use this federal tool to ensure employees are legally authorized to work. Non-compliance can result in severe penalties, including the suspension of business licenses. Employers must also retain E-Verify records for at least three years.
