The California Privacy Protection Agency (CPPA) has launched an investigation into companies’ collection of sensitive location data, including inquiries to advertising networks, mobile apps, and data brokers. The CPPA aims to ensure compliance with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). The investigation will focus on how companies inform consumers about their right to opt out of data sales and sharing, especially regarding geolocation data, and how they apply this opt-out process.
