Connecticut has become the latest state to regulate employers’ use of artificial intelligence in employment screening through the Connecticut Artificial Intelligence Responsibility and Transparency Act. The law requires employers who use AI employment decision tools for screening or workforce management to provide notice to applicants and employees, limit discriminatory outcomes, and maintain governance measures around AI use. With phased compliance deadlines beginning in 2026 and extending into 2027, employers should review their AI tools, update policies, and prepare for new transparency and recordkeeping obligations.
