As part of the full legalization of recreational marijuana, House Bill 0902 creates the Cannabis Legalization Equity Act, which provides details on the possession, consumption, use, display, purchasing, transportation and growth of cannabis, both on one’s own premises and outside one’s premises. In addition, HB0902 also provides an excise tax at the rate of 10 percent of the sale price of the sale or transfer of cannabis from a cannabis cultivation facility to a retail cannabis store or cannabis product manufacturing facility. Notable for employers, Senate bill, SB0007 addresses an employer’s right to adopt “reasonable employment policies concerning smoking, consumption, storage, or use of cannabis in the workplace.”
