Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) is partnering with ID.me for faster ID verification in the unemployment system. Iowans must use ID.me to verify their identity when applying for unemployment benefits by April 1st. The process aims to reduce fraudulent claims and streamline applications. Verification options include online self-service, live video chat, and in-person assistance at IowaWORKS offices. ID.me is used by 15 federal agencies, 30 states, and 600+ retailers. The IRS has chosen ID.me for its digital ID pilot due to its security standards, despite past criticisms.
